Our History

When we launched Ruella James in 1999, we had a vision to create a different type of Recruitment to Recruitment consultancy. Twenty five years later we are proud to say that we are very much the recruiter of choice,  when it comes to the many clients and candidates that we have supported over the past 25 years.

Like most new businesses we had humble beginnings, working from a small flat in West Kensington. I still vividly recall our first few placements and am really proud that many of those first placements now head up some of the most high profile recruitment companies in London or are running their own successful companies.

Over the years, we have had a few challenges along the way, reflecting the market and the trading conditions, but we’ve got through the down turns, and these have usually made us stronger than we were before. 17 years ago we made the decision to work from home, something that was quite unusual at the time. For our team, it gives us more flexibility to be available outside of core working hours and especially works well for our candidates – we are happy to take your call from 9am to 9pm, giving you the flexibility you need.

Along the way, we were the only R2R to win three Recruiter Awards for Excellence in the Category of Best Recruitment to Recruitment Firm, which we feel has been a fantastic achievement.

Our business has always been and will always be ‘values led’. Our candidates and clients appreciate that when they work with us that we will work hard for them and we can always be trusted.

We like to keep things simple, our approach is completely transparent and we appreciate that in order to be successful that we need to work in partnership. Our countless testimonials speak volumes about our approach and our service.

One of the things that I am most proud of is my team, not only do they have extensive backgrounds in recruitment and a long tenure with Ruella James, but they love what they do.
